Givelda makes history

GIVELDA State School made history, winning the aggregate trophy for the first time in the small schools sports carnival's history last term.

The students travelled to Gin Gin State School and, as well as the overall trophy, managed to take home two age champions - one in the minor category and one in the junior category.

Staff, parents and caregivers also made the trip to support the students' performances.

Meanwhile, Givelda State School's facilities recently had a miniature facelift with the building of an all-weather, multipurpose undercover area.

The area can be used for dance, drama and sports activities, which would normally take place in the damaging summer sun.

Students are now spending much of their lunch time testing out the new area.

The facility was made possible through the Investing in Schools federal grant.

Also, rugby league fever overtook Givelda State School with a visit from an NRL development officer recently.

Students were taken through challenging drills and enjoyed the break from routine.

This activity demonstrated that small schools enjoy all the benefits that larger schools do.
