Little As take a swag of medals
AN OVERFLOWING swag of medals and an incredible 37 personal bests were the results of a huge spring carnival for Isis District Little Athletics Club.
The team of 18 athletes exceeded all expectations as they nabbed 17 gold, 15 silver and eight bronze medals at the Little Athletics Queensland Spring Carnival, which was held in Bundaberg during the school holidays.
Newcomer Joey Vella ran hard to break the three-minute barrier in his 800m win, while siblings Jimmy and Tessie Dyer shared wins in their 200m events.
Talented middle distance runner Luke Adamson continued his field event development in the best possible way, winning both the hurdles and high jump.
Isis DLAC members' successes weren't confined to Bundaberg, as Tom Cole and Simone Manski travelled to Maryborough's Day/Night Carnival.
Manski had an unforgettable weekend as she won all four of her events, while Cole won bronze in the triple jump and finished fourth in his other events.
The next challenge for Isis DLAC members is the Central Coast regional pentathlon, which will be held in Gladstone on December 6. Entry forms are available at the canteen on club nights, or email email@example.com for more.
