More funding available for young sporting stars in new scheme

YOUNG people and sporting officials in the Bundaberg area now have better access to state government funding to help them travel to state, national and international sporting events.

Member for Bundaberg, Leanne Donaldson young sporting stars were eligible to apply for up to $1200 over a 24-month period under the new scheme.

"We know a lot of local young people are showing their skills, passion and talent on the sporting field," she said.

"That's why young people can now apply for up to $1200 over a two-year period so we can help them get to their sporting events."

She said opportunities also extended to sporting officials like coaches, referees and scorers.

The Young Athletes Travel Subsidy opens for applications on July 1.
