Man charged with hitting firie

A MAN has been charged with a string of offences after allegedly hitting a firefighter who had been sent to help him.

Bundaberg Police Superintendent Anne Macdonald confirmed the charges, relating to an incident at Gaeta on Tuesday night, including serious assault on a public official, the serious obstruction on a public official and lighting fires in a restricted fire zone.

It is understood the firefighter was hit with a lump of wood when the rural fire brigade attended a blaze on his property.
