Help raise money for sick kids

AS THE end of the financial year draws to a close so does the fundraising for Give Me 5 for Kids, but before time runs out it is not too late to jump on board and help support sick kids.

The Give Me 5 for Kids holds a fundraiser drive throughout the month of June each year to raise money for Wide Bay hospitals children wards.

Give Me 5 for Kids event organiser Estelle Pretorius said another event will kick off tomorrow morning with The Grand Hotel holding an end-of-financial-year get-together to help support the charity.

"We encourage the community to support this well-known and generous charity fundraiser by visiting the Grand Hotel this Friday during the time that will suit them best," Mrs Pretorius said.

"During the morning between 7.30am and 10am for every gold coin donation received you get a free coffee."

Grand Hotel employee Kasey Harp said she thought it was important to get behind the charity which supports sick children.

"Come down and give what you can - it's important to get behind the sick kids," Miss Harp said.

Mrs Pretorius said the total money raised so far is just over $12,500.

"We do hope to break the record of moneys raised in Bundaberg last year."
