Webb couple earn aussie call-up

Christmas came early this week for Gillian Enslin-Webb and her husband Darren Webb.

The two talented shooters, who live at Apple Tree Creek, found out they qualified for the Australian squad that will contest the World Long Range Rifle Shooting Championships next October.

Making the achievement more special is the fact that the two will be competing in Queensland, with Brisbane to host the titles.

The couple have been shooting together for almost 20 years and they make a pretty good team.

Gillian introduced Darren to the sport and he soon found he had a knack for it.

Darren won the individual event in the World Long Range Rifle Shooting Championships in 1999. The titles are held every four years and are the shooting community’s equivalent to the Olympics.

Gillian was the top scorer in the championships in 2007, when they were held in Canada.
