Appeal for donations
WITH only 10 days to go until the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal ends, more than $10,000 is still needed to reach the target.
The appeal is held every year and funds raised go to the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul to support families in need.
Bundaberg Regional Council has set a goal to raise $20,000, but with just $9113.45 in the kitty — and with less than a fortnight to go until the appeal ends — things are not looking good.
The Rum City Silver Band hopes to boost the appeal with its annual Mayoral Christmas Concert tomorrow.
This will be the band’s 30th concert in support of the appeal and they are hoping for their biggest crowd yet.
Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch is looking forward to the afternoon of festive music and invites the community to come along.
“We’re delighted that the Rum City Silver Band has continued their support of the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal,” she said.
“I urge everyone to come along and enjoy a top class afternoon of entertainment.”
Band president Laurel O’Halloran says the program will offer some top quality acts.
“All acts are of a high quality with some performers studying music in Brisbane,” she said.
“It is always a very enjoyable afternoon.”
Acts include vocal soloists, Dance School, The City of Bundaberg Drum Corps, Rock and Roll Dancers, Coral Group, Bundaberg Youth Choir carol singing and a visit from Santa.
The concert will be held tomorrow at the Moncrieff Theatre from 1.30pm until 4.30pm
Entry is via a gold coin donation.
