Appeal to find owner of sunken vessel

POLICE are appealing for public assistance following a marine incident that occurred in the Fitzroy River early this morning.

Around 2.40am, a man sleeping on a vessel moored in the river was woken by another vessel colliding with his.

The moorings for his vessel have broken, and both boats have then drifted down the river.

The boat that struck the moored vessel has then capsized, and sunk.

The other vessel with the man on board has then drifted down the river for some time until Water Police were able to moor the vessel and assist the man back to shore.

Police are appealing for the owner of the sunken vessel to contact them.

It is described as being a 15 foot fiberglass boat with an inboard motor, center console, a fixed cover and is blue with white sides.
