Qld boss applauds FB centre

FOOTBALL Queensland president Dennis O'Brien is impressed by all that is happening in the Football Bundaberg (FB) Competition Management Centre.

O'Brien, who has been involved in football administration for two decades but took on the top state job last year, visited Martens Oval last week during Football Bundaberg fixtures, together with Wide Bay Zone chairman Tony Jakeman, and he was delighted with what he saw.

"The Wide Bay Zone and Bundaberg are doing really well, as evidenced by what we see around us today - there are over 1000 players running around, and there is now a much better structure inside the organisation,'' O'Brien said.

"What has impressed me most is just the feel of the place - you can sense the buzz around the grounds - they talk about Active Australia and competition like this is what it is all about and places like Bundaberg and Gympie are leading the way.

"I'm also impressed by so many young girls playing.''

Queensland Primary Schools star of last year, Josh Brillante, was the most prolific scorer in junior fixtures on the weekend, racking up six goals as Across The Waves Hammers downed North 13-nil in under-13.
