NewsMail press to stay

THE Bundaberg NewsMail has been placed at the heart of APN News and Media's printing services, with the company agreeing to build a new printing press in the city.

APN Print chief operating officer Brian Hood announced yesterday a new $5 million printing press site would be built and operational by June next year.

"We are looking at options of where to locate the facility, which will have state-of-the-art equipment and a modern full-colour press,'' Mr Hood said.

"There will be a significant quality lift and we will be able to increase and add on products.

"There will be no job losses as a result of the expansion.''

The site will support printing services for APN's newspapers between Mackay and Lismore.

Central Region regional manager Steve Molineux welcomed the announcement.

"The fact that APN has chosen to develop a major print site out of this town is exciting news,'' Mr Molineux said.
