High priced wheels go missing
BRAZEN thieves have stolen valuable mag wheels from cars parked at the Ross Gray Holden dealership.
Three sets of mag wheels have been pinched from cars in the used car lot in the past six weeks, the most recent theft on Tuesday night.
"They are being taken straight off the car. The thieves come in, jack up the car and leave it sitting on blocks while they take the wheels,'' Bundaberg police Senior Constable Dave Tucker said.
"The target is alloy mag wheels of late model SS Commodores.''
Sen Const Tucker said the mag wheels were valued up to $3000.
Ross Gray Holden used car sales manager Neil Weston said mag wheels at car dealerships were often a target.
"It's not just us. It's a problem up and down the coast at the moment, going from the conversations I've had with other dealerships,'' Mr Weston said.
"They come in and jack up the car, take the wheels and leave it sitting on bricks. We've had three sets stolen in six weeks so it starts to add up.''
Mr Weston said 24-hour camera surveillance would be installed at the Takalvan Street business as part of upgraded security.
Anyone with information about the thefts can call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000 or Bundaberg Police on 4153 9111.
