Bowlers hold key
PACE spearhead Boyd Williams backs his team's bowling depth to be a trump card when Bundaberg takes on South Burnett in tomorrow's representative cricket final at Murgon.
Bundaberg heads into the clash aiming for a hat-trick of Goodchild Trophy titles, although players will be mindful the Rum City side was dealt a shock 41-run loss when the two sides met early in November.
"We have a better side this time around and our bowling in particular is very strong. We've got a lot of options," Williams said.
"We'd be aiming to bowl them out for under 150. Pretty much any game we go into we are looking to get teams for around that total. We've certainly got the bowlers to do it."
Bundaberg's attack will be headed by a fully fit Williams and captain Kris Johnson, with their confidence high after winning Queensland Country selection last weekend.
Pace support will be provided by Adam Rayner, Dean Kronk and Mark Kaczmarowski and there are spinning options with Paul Jenner and Sean Stuchbery in the team.
Bundaberg was in the box seat to win the previous match until a batting collapse.
"We were 3 for 115 chasing 180 and then all out for 145, which is not good enough," Williams said.
"The guys in the middle and lower order need to apply themselves more.
"I think last time they thought the job was done and mentally switched off."
Some rain has fallen in the South Burnett over the past 24 hours but the Murgon venue was not thought to be under any threat of being washed out.
Danger players in the South Burnett line up include former Brisbane batsman Anthony Eden and Wide Bay reps Ashley Sipple and Mark Eisenmenger.
n In other news, today's junior cricket fixtures (turf) and senior cricket have been cancelled due to the weather.
A decision on today's junior cricket on synthetic wickets, plus tomorrow's senior games, will be made this morning.
