Award given to green thumbs

THE lush greens and vibrant colours of Ingrid Zysk's award-winning garden are more than enough to bring a proud smile to her face.

Mrs Zysk recently won the New Garden section of the Department of Housing's Garden Awards and is very proud of her achievements.

"I have been working on it bit by bit,'' Mrs Zysk said.

"You should have seen it when I moved in.''

Mrs Zysk moved into the home about two years ago with her friend Carmel Claussen.

Mrs Zysk believed having a beautiful garden helped make the house a home.

"Making the outside nice brings pride into the home,'' she said.

"It doesn't matter if you rent a place, own a place or get a house from the government, it is your home so you must look after it.
