ANZAC clash cancels Woodgate fair
TWELVE years of tradition will be broken next year with the cancellation of the annual Woodgate Beach Easter Fair.
Usually held each Easter Monday, that day in 2011 will clash with Anzac Day, so organisers have decided the best option is to cancel and look for an alternative date.
Event co-ordinator Helen Brett said her committee had ruled out the Easter Saturday.
“Our major stall holders commit themselves each year according to the calendar, so most already have somewhere else to be,” Mrs Brett said.
She said because patrons had become familiar with the fair being held on Easter Monday, the organisation would have to advertise the fact it was not being held to prevent people from just turning up on the day.
One option open to the event might be during Queensland Week celebrations.
Mrs Brett and her committee are seeking opinions from within the community on possible options, and those with positive suggestions can call her on 4126 8081.
