Another council hopeful
ANOTHER candidate has emerged to challenge for a place on Bundaberg Regional Council in the elections next year.
Rachael Antrobus will run in Division 4, challenging sitting councillor Vince Habermann.
Ms Antrobus said she was a Bundaberg girl born and bred.
"For the past 39 years I have crawled, walked and run the streets of Bundaberg from marching with the young Hardies to teaching swimming and serving behind a bar," she said.
Ms Antrobus said although she may not be a third or fourth generation Bundabergian, she had had the opportunity to have personal connections with real people.
"We are fortunate to have four healthy children and I am proud to have a very supportive husband," she said.
"We as people would like to see the heart of Bundaberg brought back to life."
Ms Antrobus said she ran a business in Bundaberg in the retail clothing and tattoo industries.
"Our family have worked the market, listening to what the community wants and needs and providing what was in our limitations to running a current business in the city centre, again trying to provide what we can to the community."
Ms Antrobus said she planned to see what needed to be done, to talk to people and to beautify the town.
"I want to see the things that can be done and bring forward ideas," she said.
Ms Antrobus said she did not pretend to know everything about serving on the council.
"It will take time to learn what my duties are," she said.
Ms Antrobus said she planned to start campaigning soon.
"We'll be going around knocking on doors," she said.
"I'm not going to say I know everything because I don't."
