Ambos robbed during call-out

A MAN will face Southport Magistrates Court today over the alleged robbery of a Queensland Ambulance officer on the Gold Coast yesterday.

An ambulance responded to reports of a driver allegedly slumped unconscious in a car parked on Pine Ridge Road about 6.20pm last night.

It is alleged the ambulance officer approached the vehicle and began to treat the driver when the driver produced a weapon and stole the officer's equipment bag.

The officer ran back to his vehicle and the offender drove away.

Police arrived and followed the vehicle and later arrested the driver.

The man has been charged with unlicensed driving, unlawful possession of a weapon, going armed to cause fear, stealing and possession of dangerous drugs.
