Alleged rapist to wait behind bars
A MAN accused of drugging and raping a woman on Christmas day will remain behind bars until a further mention of his case on January 28.
The 50-year-old Thabeban man had part of his bail application heard on December 27 but it was adjourned to ensure a witness would not be living in the same house if the defendant was released on bail.
The man's defence requested an adjournment of three weeks in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday which was accepted for the accommodation details to be finalised.
The man allegedly advertised free accommodation at his home, to which a woman in her 30s responded.
It is alleged the defendant made the woman a coffee, which she drank, causing her to pass out for 16 hours.
Police allege when the woman awoke hours later, the defendant was digitally penetrating her. The man was also accused of threatening a male witness who was also living at the house at the time of the alleged offences.
