Alleged drug lab found in Barolin St home
EIGHT people have been arrested and charged with drug related offences after Bundaberg and Taskforce Maxima detectives carried out raids across the region.
On Tuesday specialist police from Brisbane were on their way to Bundaberg to process an alleged drug lab located in a Barolin St house which police will allege was used to produce amphetamines.
Bundaberg Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Glenn Cameron said seven men and one woman were charged with offences including possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils.
"Police did locate what they suspect is items used in the production of amphetamines and police from Brisbane will attend to process that scene," he said.
"The officers from Brisbane who are attending are trained in being able to process the items located at the drug lab and they have the skills to identify what items are there and also the safety precautions that are necessary to process them."
Det Act Snr Sgt Cameron said detectives searched four addresses in Bundaberg and one in Moore Park Beach, also locating drugs including marijuana.
"At most addresses there wasn't large quantities of drugs but any time any drugs are located police find it disturbing," he said.
"Detectives from Bundaberg and also Taskforce Maxima executed a number of warrants. There was five warrants executed in total and as a result of these warrants there has been seven males and one female charged with drug related offences.
"Obviously locating items we suspect have been used in the production of amphetamines is very concerning because the items being used create a health risk to the people doing these offences and also anyone who is producing drugs and releasing it into the community is a concern."
Det Act Snr Sgt Cameron urged any community members with information about suspected drug activity to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
