Alleged attack on cop

THREE people will face court after a police officer was allegedly punched in the face in Gin Gin.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the constable attended an address in Mill St, Gin Gin, on Friday night to discuss one of the occupants allegedly acting drunk and disorderly in a licensed premises.

The spokesman said when police attempted to arrest the 19-year-old, a scuffle ensued in which an officer was allegedly punched on the chin, causing bruising.

"The person has allegedly become violent and resisted arrest and become involved in a struggle with police," he said.

The spokesman said a man and a woman, both 21, also became involved in the incident, causing them both to be charged with obstructing police.

The 19-year-old man was charged with seriously assaulting an officer, obstructing police and acting drunk and disorderly in a licensed premises.

All three will face court at a later date.
