Aussie charged as North Korean ‘agent’

A SYDNEY man is behind bars accused of supporting North Korea by allegedly brokering sales and discussing the supply of weapons of mass destruction.

The Australian Federal Police said the 59-year-old has been charged for allegedly acting as an economic agent for Democratic Republic of Korea in Australia, in breach of both United Nations and Australian sanctions.

 

ABC has reported the man was arrested and charged in Sydney yesterday and is expected to face Parramatta Bail Court later today.

AFP Assistant Commissioner Neil Gaughan will address media later today.
