Affordable rates and growth are priorities for Cr Peters
What is your biggest achievement in the past four years?
The future direction and the importance of council planning through Social Development Action Plan, Cultural Plan, Community Plan, Riverside Masterplan, the new Town Plan and other plans, all have community input. Improved funding from both State and Federal governments also assists in delivery of projects.
What is the biggest disappointment in this time?
The promise to this community at the time of floods in 2013 by State and Federal governments to partner with the council to build a multi-purpose/evacuation centre. The recent contribution of $5 million towards this centre by the current State Government is good news as it lessens the borrowings by the council and therefore the impact on ratepayers.
Why should people vote you back in?
Financial accountability and responsibility is vital and my experience in the business sector and the public sector allow me to make sound judgments. My involvement in many local organisations affords me a greater understanding of what is required. I listen and work with residents to achieve sustainable goals.
What is your main priority for the next four years in the Bundaberg region?
Keeping rates affordable while providing for growth to meet the increasing demands for infrastructure, environmental sustainability and improved community services.
