Add your voice to youth choir

SCIENTIFIC research has found that singing (and the inherent breathing techniques) improves the body’s cardiovascular system therefore helping prevent colds and flu.

The highly-acclaimed, award-winning Bundaberg Youth Choir has vacancies for its 2010 workshop program, and any prospective local choristers aged eight to 17 are strongly encouraged to get involved.

The choir is made up of students from schools in the Bundaberg area who rehearse each Monday after school in preparation for competition and concert performances through the year.

Highlights for 2010 include a world premiere of a commissioned work in June and a concert in September to celebrate the choir’s 25th anniversary.

At the conclusion of their time in the Youth Choir, choristers are encouraged to then join with the parent choir, the Bundaberg Orpheus Singers, and continue enjoying the beauty of singing.

Inquiries can be made by telephoning Youth Choir musical director Robyn Edgar on 4152 8246, or email edgarr@shalomcollege.com.
