Act of kindness ends in savage blows to head

A MAN who tried to get a drunk man home after he was evicted from a hotel has been brutally assaulted for his act of kindness.

The 29-year-old attempted to help a 52-year-old man who had been forced to leave the Central Hotel in Victoria St, Stanthorpe.

He was punched twice in the head and knocked unconscious for a short time.

The incident occurred about midnight Friday.

Police are investigating.
