ACROSS The Waves will play Archem Premier League powerhouse Diggers for the premiership after claiming victory in the preliminary finals last Saturday.

The full-strength Across The Waves unit was a dominant force in the Marten's Oval encounter with Moore Park leaving the final score at 2-1.

Across The Waves Football Club president and midfield campaigner John Giovannoni said his team played with confidence and considerable skill.

“We knew we were going to do them in,” he said.

“We went in with a winning mindset and we got the job done.”

Across The Waves struck twice in the first half with strikers Matty Martin and Rod Cooper each claiming a goal.

Striker Brendan Banks hit back for Moore Park with 15 minutes remaining in the second half.

Brendan Morrison was an asset for Across The Waves in goal in the final stages of the game denying Moore Park the equaliser with some inspired saves.

Giovannoni said the game had been an excellent warm-up for the main event against Diggers next weekend.

“We were knocking around the ball very well and there were some pretty impressive passages of play,” he said.

“I think there's still some room for the boys to lift, but we're travelling well in the lead-up to the grand final.”
