Murder accessory accused in court

A MAN charged with offences relating to a taxi driver’s murder 23 years ago will face a further mention in court, after the magistrate ordered his committal hearing be arranged by May.

Anthony Bruce Beer, 45, of Hervey Bay, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact, robbery with violence, car theft and wilful damage.

The charges relate to the murder of Bryan Hodgkinson in September 10, 1987.

In Bundaberg Magistrates Court yesterday, Magistrate Jennifer Batts told defence lawyer Mary Buchanan the court would be able to start Beer’s three-day committal hearing in April or May.

Ms Buchanan had requested the hearing be in August.

Ms Batts adjourned the case for further mention on February 19.
