Real estate agent faces attempted rape charges

A TOOWOOMBA real estate identity has been committed to stand trial on a range of sex charges.

Sheran Fernando, 37, has not been required as yet to enter any pleas to seven counts of sexual assault and one count each of deprivation of liberty, attempted rape and assault with intent to rape.

No details of the allegations have as yet been aired in court but Fernando was committed to stand trial in Toowoomba District Court via a court registry committal hearing held recently.

A registry committal is the process through which charges transfer from the Magistrates Court up to the higher courts.

No date has yet been set for the trial but will be listed in the court diary until a date is set by the Director of the Department of Public Prosecutions.

Fernando has been remanded on bail with conditions pending his trial.
