Letters: One national flag
I SEE in the NewsMail the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders wish to have their flag recognised and to be flown year round.
I consider this request is a move to separate the nation into two races.
As I see it they have a flag which is recognised all over the world and rightly so, but so do many other groups.
Boy scouts, girl guides, lifesavers, football clubs and so on; they display their emblem on a regular basis and we all respond accordingly.
The move or suggestion to fly their flag all year round is blatantly a move to form a separation.
All people living in Australia except those who have not been naturalised, should be without a doubt, proud of our national flag.
I think there should be a referendum. That will make this request legal.
It certainly has nothing to do with local authorities to make this decision.
Each state and territory has their own flag and we are all as one nation under the Australian flag. Keep it that way.
