Local woman dies in crash

A 39-YEAR-OLD woman has died after her car crashed into a tree on Saturday.

The Morganville woman was travelling along Walla Road, between Old Gayndah and Stevens roads, about 20 minutes south of Gin Gin, at 1.30pm when the accident happened.

Bundaberg Police Sergeant Steve Schultz said when police received the call, the woman was unconscious and not breathing.

She had died by the time emergency crews reached the scene.

Sgt Schultz said the woman was driving a red 1998 Holden Commodore station wagon and was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.

“It is not known at this time what was the cause of the accident,” he said.

Sgt Schultz said it may never be known what caused the accident unless an autopsy shed some light on it.

The Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Rescue crews also attended the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
