Aussie cricketers just brought home half a million dollars

AUSTRALIA'S resurgence on the international stage under new coach Darren Lehmann will add $A580,000 to Cricket Australia's coffers next month.

With only Twenty20 matches to be played before the April 1 cut-off, Australia is guaranteed to finish as the No.1 country on ODI rankings and No.2 on the Test rankings. The Aussies are sixth on the T20 standings, led by Sri Lanka.

Australia was hoping to improve on that in the first T20 match of the three-game series against South Africa on Sunday, but the match at Port Elizabeth was rained out before a ball was bowled.

The second game is scheduled to be played at Kingsmead tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, defending T20 World Cup champions the West Indies beat England by 27 runs yesterday in the first of three T20 matches in the Caribbean. English captain Stuart Broad will miss the remaining games because of patella tendonitis in his right knee.
