Woman gets nine months jail for selling stolen rings

A WOMAN who sold stolen jewellery to a Maryborough pawn brokers and was found in Brisbane with a stolen debit card was jailed for nine months.

Leticia Renee Wise, 22, pleaded guilty in Maryborough Magistrates Court to seven charges including fraud and possessing stolen property.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Michael Quirk said Wise sold $140 in jewellery to Loans Star Trading Post on Kent Street on April 9, 2014.

He said when she sold the jewellery she signed a declaration to say it was her property.

The jewellery was later found to be stolen.

Sgt Quirk said Wise was found asleep at McDonalds in Browns Plains on August 18.

When police searched her property they found a debit card and Medicare card which belonged to another woman.

Defence lawyer Travis George said Wise had a drug problem which she had taken steps to overcome while in custody.

Magistrate John Smith sentenced Wise to nine months with a parole release date of April 4.
