70 nett marks 70th birthday

IT WOULD only happen once in a blue moon that a player shoots his or her age, albeit on handicap, let alone on his or her actual birthday.

But that is what Bargara retiree Trevor Plant did.

Trevor recently turned 70 and although his whole family was at his place to help him celebrate, he played golf in the Bargara Competition, as he usually does on a Tuesday.

Playing off 11, he shot an 81 off the stick, which equates to a nett 70.

Trevor said he has been playing for a “long time” and he loves it.

“I started in Toowoomba when I was 12 and I won the 1992 Australian Masters in Perth. I have continued since I moved here eight years ago and I’ve won the Bargara Vets Championship three times,” Trevor said.

“But my biggest achievement was designing Humpty Doo Golf Course in Northern Territory 25 years ago.”
