250 dancers take to stage

ABOUT 250 dancers and more than 500 costumes made for one dazzling end-of-year concert for the stars of Encore Dance Studio at the weekend.

Mary Poppins took to the stage at the Moncrieff Theatre on Saturday, as well as a make-believe candy land with giant-sized lollipops, which kept the audience of more than 1000 people delightfully entertained.

Encore Dance Studio principal Penny Curd said the concert was a culmination of what the students had learnt during the year, and was also a great way for parents and friends to see the hard work the students had put in.

"We had our usual technical hiccups, but in the end it was a fantastic show," she said.

Ms Curd said the hip-hop and contemporary dance sections also impressed, with the boy's hip-hop group proving to be a crowd pleaser.

"Every year they are getting bigger and better."

The new term of lessons will start early next year.
