Isis River speed camera issues 1156 tickets in 12 months
ONE OF the busiest speed cameras on the Bruce Hwy was at Isis River, south of Bundaberg, which issued 1156 tickets in 12 months. Only three sites issued more.
But the region was far from the worst part of the highway for speeders. The four highest speeds police recorded on the Bruce Hwy were at Burpengary, 35km north of Brisbane, including a driver doing 230kmh.
But the speed camera sites which issued the most tickets per hour were located at the other end of the highway.
A camera at Gordonvale, a southern suburb of Cairns, issued 20.95 tickets for every hour it was in operation.
The second highest was in White Rock - another southern Cairns suburb - where 14.29 tickets were issued per hour.
A camera at Burpengary issued 3216 tickets between June 1, 2014 and May 31, 2015 - more than any other on the highway.
