Violent rage over silence request

A MAN who was drinking with friends flew into a fit of rage when he was asked to be quieter, slapping a friend across the face before smashing a window and stomping across their car.

Bundaberg District Court today heard Ian Bryon Anderson, 30, of Bundaberg caused more than $5000 of damage in the alcohol-fuelled incident last month.

Judge Michael Rackemann said after he was asked to be quiet, Anderson threw a beer bottle through a glass window before taking a kettle from the home and using it to smash the windscreen and a front window of a friend's car.

"You slapped the complainant then ran out and jumped on the bonnet, roof and boot of the vehicle causing extensive damage," Judge Rackemann said.

Prosecutor David Nardone said Anderson committed the offences just six months after he finished parole.

"He is a mature man with a growing history that suggests a lifestyle of persistent offending," Mr Nardone said.

"This (offending) doesn't suggest any real efforts towards rehabilitation.

"There is a need to protect the community from his random offending and now violent offending."
