STUDENTS at St Luke's Anglican School are leading by example, with two groups from the school registering for Clean Up Australia Day.

The event, which will be held on March 4, encourages individuals and groups from the community to spend their day tidying up the region.

St Luke's teacher Neil Robinson said it was heartening to see the number of students who had registered for the day.

"Australia is such a great country that it does not deserve to be spoilt by litter," Mr Robinson said.

"Cleaning up the litter is one thing, but the public awareness part of the day is even more important."

The event is expected to be a big one in the region this year, with registrations already surpassing the numbers from last year.

A Clean Up Business Day will also be held on Tuesday and a Clean Up Schools Day will be held on March 2.

To register for the event, log on to or call 1800 282 329.
