FEAR FACTOR: A house in Newhaven Crt, Avoca, which was broken into by two armed men.
A QUIET Avoca street was the scene of a terrifying home invasion where two men allegedly smashed their way into a home armed with a baseball bat and a steak knife early Wednesday.
Bundaberg Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Sergeant Joe Hildred said the home's occupants - three men aged 22, 25 and 34 - were woken at 3.30am, after the intruders allegedly smashed a glass sliding door at the back of the Newhaven Crt home.
Det Snr Sgt Hildred said both men gained entry and began to allegedly bash on bedroom doors, before threatening and demanding cash from the home's occupants.
A nearby resident said she was woken by the commotion shortly after 3am.
"It sounded like something was rattling - the dogs were barking," she said.
"Then I heard someone banging on the door and yelling to open the door."
Another neighbour also described the sound of "rattling" and shouting coming from the two-storey home.
"There have been a lot of arguments going on there lately," he said.
"A lot of people come and go really quickly - they stay for five minutes and then go again."
Det Snr Sgt Hildred said two men were taken into custody late yesterday, after the three victims assisted police with their inquiries.
A 24-year-old Hunter St, Walkervale, man was charged with three counts of burglary and two charges of assault.
"The second person was released with no charges in relation to the burglary," Det Snr Sgt Hildred said.
"But, he was dealt with in relation to an outstanding warrant."
The man charged was remanded in custody to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Thursday.
