Condom shop robber fronts court

A BUNDABERG man who robbed a Surfers Paradise condom shop has faced Bundaberg District Court.

Richard Alfred Brosig, 26, pleaded guilty one count of robbery with personal violence, which stemmed from an incident on June 21 last year.

Prosecutor Julie Aylward said about 8.15pm, Brosig entered the Condom Kingdom shop and knocked a jumper from a rack, then bent down and stuffed it down a jacket he was wearing.

She said the shop attendant confronted Brosig and a scuffle broke out, which saw him push the worker causing him to stumble backwards.

"It really, to be fair, is a shop stealing gone wrong," Ms Aylward said.

The prosecutor said Brosig had relevant history, with an offence of robbery with violence while armed and in company in 2005.

Brosig's barrister said he had made attempts to improve himself while in custody by undertaking hospitality courses.

He was sentenced to 15 months jail with immediate parole release taking into account 158 days already served.
