THE Bears will rally to continue their assault on the Queensland Basketball Competition in a match against Caboolture this afternoon.

Still riding high after two wins in a successful double-header last weekend, the Bears will seek to clip the wings of southern rivals Caboolture and secure a home-court play-offs berth.

Coach Dean Page said his teams had looked formidable in training sessions this past week thanks in part to the new star signing of Australian Institute of Sport graduate and American college basketball campaigner Hayley Munro.

The presence of Munro has helped to boost the scoring presence of his team and lighten the load of American import Vonnie Turner at the front of the court.

“Munro's a scorer and she's going to be an asset to this team,” he said.

“It's going to help us open up a lot more attacking opportunities and it's going to help free up Vonnie.”

Page said his team would have to be wary of Caboolture's physical brand of basketball and bolster its defence in the encounter.

“We need to go out there with a point to prove and try and put them away early.”

The Bulls play Caboolture tonight, the team's second match under the guidance of new coach Danny Page who has taken the reins of the team after the resignation of former coach Adam Curran.

The son of Bears coach Dean Page will draw upon experience gained during a burgeoning Queensland Basketball League career which has included an assistant coaching role with Gladstone Power women and Ipswich Force men.

Page said the Bulls outfit had worked extremely hard to address defensive lapses in their game play and would bring a strong contest to the game against Ipswich.

“There have been some problems with intensity and defence on the ball but the team has worked hard to address it,” he said.

“It will be another big challenge this weekend but the guys are already for it.”

The Bundaberg Bears will play Caboolture 5.15 tonight.

The Bundaberg Bulls will play Caboolture 7 o'clock tonight.
