Bundaberg Orpheus singer Rob Evans at the Holy Rosary Church.
THE roof of the Holy Rosary Church was lifted by the heavenly vocals of three esteemed choral groups over the weekend in a special performance called Hallelujah, Amen.
The Bundaberg Youth Choir and Bundaberg Orpheus Singers sang for the first time with the Toowoomba Vocal Ensemble in two awe- inspiring performances at the church.
Orpheus Singers spokesman Rob Evans said the Saturday night performance was well received.
“It was cold, so we were down a little in numbers, but it was very warm in heart,” he said.
More than 200 people packed the pews of the church yesterday afternoon for the final performance, which Mr Evans said had “fulfilled our expectations”.
Toowoomba Vocal Ensemble singer Rikki Holzknecht said the group had enjoyed its first ever performance with the Orpheus Singers.
“The other parts have been very good to work with,” he said.
“We had a quick rehearsal and we just blended in together.”
Youth Choir conductor Robyn Edgar said the youth choir had performed “absolutely superbly”.
“These kids learnt five movements of the mass in Latin in eight weeks,” she said.
“There were about six of them that had only been in the choir that amount of time – it’s just amazing.”
Mrs Edgar said although not all of the Toowoomba Vocal Ensemble members were present for the weekend, the seven who did perform blew the crowd away.
“It’s nice to get different groups together. We are just so pleased with the performances,” she said.
