Parker captures two titles

BMX: Australian champion Jade Parker turned it on for her home town as the Bundaberg club hosted the 2011 Central Queensland Championships, snaring two titles.

The teenage sensation triumphed in a field of 10 in the Pro Open women's division, grabbing the prize from fellow local and national medallist Abbie Blackburn, and she proved in a different class against riders of her own age in the 15 years girls.

Bundaberg was the most successful club, with their members notching nine titles, with Blackburn also among the winners, in her age group, the 14 years girls.

Connor Pratt also turned it on to pick up a double, in the 13 years boys and the 13-14 Cruisers, in which he beat off the challenges of a strong Rockhampton contingent.

Boyd Hilder similarly showed his class with a power-packed victory in the 16 years boys, while Kaleisha Jackson emerged as a star of the future by beating all comers in the 9 years girls.

Veterans Gary Winmill (40-44 Cruisers) and Mike Roderick (45-plus Cruisers) also showed their winning style.

Rockhampton was second on the honours list with eight wins, with Scott Thomasson heading their charge by taking out the 10 years boys and 8-10 Cruisers double, and his sister Samantha clinching No. 1 in the 13 years girls.

Their other victors included father and son Brett and Declan Halter in the 35-39 Cruisers and 11 years boys respectively, Shakara Long (12 years girls), Trae Passmore (12 years boys) and Erin Rook (16 years girls).

Gladstone's Harbour City club and Maryborough produced five individual winners each

Seventeen riders lined up in the blue riband Pro Open men's division, in which Graeme Riggs, of Harbour City, defeated Bundaberg's Kurt Grambower.

Harbour City's other winners were Tenille Spencer (11 years girls), Alexander Curnow (17-24 Cruisers), and Jason Rayner and Joel Spencer, who led club trifectas in the 14 and 15 years boys events respectively.

Maryborough father and daughter Ryan and Kaitlin made it a family double in the 30-34 Cruisers and 8 years girls respectively, while club-mates Cooper Rufus (8 years boys), Harrison Browning (9 years boys) and Dannielle Bradford (Ladies Cruisers) also stood tall.

The Bundaberg club is now preparing for its annual showpiece Canetoad Classic on July 9 and 10, and it is also continuing its preparations for the Queensland championships which it will host from September 21-25.
