Craig Lear and Lisa Hardy from Scripture Union Queensland and Bundaberg Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch are looking forward to the Mayoral School Chaplaincy Support Breakfast.
ALMOST two months after the support of school chaplains was under threat from the high court, Bundaberg is looking to highlight the hard work and effort chaplains put in with a Mayoral School Chaplaincy Support Breakfast next month.
Local businesses and organisations have donated much of the breakfast, to be held at the Civic Centre on May 17, at which people will also have the chance to listen to guest speaker Tim Mander.
The former NRL referee and CEO of Scripture Union Queensland will be speaking about his passion for the roles of chaplains and the difference they have made in schools.
Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch said the event was important not only to fundraise for chaplains, but also to publicise the effort they put in for the community's youths.
“Tim Mander is a wonderful guest speaker. He believes passionately in the role of school chaplains to help young people with everyday life issues, as well as the more critical issues that face our youth today,” Cr Pyefinch said.
Tickets for the event cost $25 and must be bought by May 10. Call Kim Ovens on 4130 4264 or email kim.ovens@bundaberg. qld.gov.au.
