THE new QR National rail transport company has thrown its support behind a bid for a national rugby league team in Central Queensland.
QR National CEO and managing director Lance Hockridge made the announcement in Rockhampton yesterday after meeting with CQ NRL Bid team chairman Geoff Murphy and CEO Denis Keeffe.
“Geoff, Denis and the team are doing a great job rallying support for this bid and the new QR National will be on board to help wherever we can,” Mr Hockridge said.
He said when the QR National float proceeded as expected later this year talks on potential sponsorship for a future CQ NRL team would begin.
