Nude run cops disciplined

SIX elite Queensland police officers caught taking an off-duty nude romp on a public road have been disciplined, but it's unclear if they will be allowed to rejoin their unit.

The six officers from the special emergency response team, were travelling back from a bucks' party in suburban Brisbane in September last year when they stopped at an intersection about 4.15am (AEST).

Five of them were seen running naked around their police mini bus at the intersection of Redland Bay and Moreton Bay roads at Capalaba.

The sixth officer was the driver.

A Queensland police statement on Wednesday said the six officers had received internal sanctions and had 14 days to appeal.

Deputy Commissioner Ian Stewart delivered his decision late on Tuesday to legal representatives of the officers.

"These officers will now return to operational duties," the statement said.

"A decision on whether they are suitable to return to the special emergency response team is expected in the coming weeks."

The statement said the disciplinary decision had been delayed until all related court matters had been finalised.

Four of the officers were each fined $300 for the stunt in the Cleveland Magistrates Court in March, after pleading guilty.

The deputy commissioner will hold a press conference on the matter at midday on Wednesday.
