Bay Power’s Glenn Krohn chases Brothers Bulldogs player Craig Bek earlier in the season.
IT IS hard to see how Bay Power can concoct a win against Brothers Bulldogs on Sunday, but hard-line coach Wayne Ling has ensured all complacency has been rubbed out prior to their sudden-death semi-final.
“No game is ever won before you get to the ground,” he said.
“We'll be looking to do well early and my goal is to play to our potential for the entire game.”
They have been eased into the semi-finals with games against Maryborough Bears and Bay Power.
It means they have missed the tough contest that could help them come finals time, but Ling has been pleased with their attitude regardless.
“We've played fourth and fifth spot, but how we have won has really impressed me,” he said.
“I'm impressed with how we've worked it out of the square and pushed the ball into the forward line.”
They didn't allow the Bears a single 50m penetration in the final quarter in their last game, while they made light work of Bay Power with as many as nine players doubling up in reserves and A-grade the week later.
“We've never played Waves or Bombers with our top team. If we are full strength and play to our potential we will be hard to beat.”
Ling said there wasn't much point trying to tailor their footy to the teams Brother are likely to face in the next fortnight.
“We are playing on the biggest ground in the competition this weekend, and they get smaller and smaller if we keep winning,” he said.
Ling said the outcome of the other semi didn't faze him.
“We'll have to beat both of them anyway, so it doesn't matter what order that is in.”
