A COOK-OFF between Bundaberg Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch and North Burnett Mayor Joy Jensen to test their Masterchef skills will be one of the highlights of the revamped Lighthouse Festival.
Committee chairwoman Kay Tuck said with two months to go, the festival was right on track with entertainment fully booked and the local committee working hard to ensure the success of the event on Saturday, October 30.
The festival will now coincide with Bundaberg Regional Council's Crush Festival and with the Port Vila to Port Bundaberg classic yacht race.
Ms Tuck said the format would be action-packed.
“While the initial Lighthouse Festival had to be rescheduled, the new committee has brought the event back like Lazarus from the dead with entertainment on the main stage booked solid from 9am to 5pm,” she said.
The children's entertainment would be provided by the same operator who thrilled the young ones at the Innes Park Australia Day Festival.
“We've heard lots of positive comments about the rides on Australia Day, so we are looking forward to the same variety and quality at the Lighthouse Festival,” Ms Tuck said.
The wide array of other features includes a variety of musical performers including African drumming, a showcase of local cuisine and an art show.
The organisers are also calling for volunteers to help make the festival a success.
For more information on the festival or on how to volunteer, visit the website at www.burnettheads.asn.au/LighthouseFestival.
The Lighthouse Festival will be held at the Jack Norgate Oval at Burnett Heads.
