Alleged drug lab shut down

THREE men will face court after a speed lab was allegedly uncovered in a Burnett Heads home.

Bundaberg Criminal Investigations Branch Detective Sergeant Scott Wiggins said the alleged methamphetamine cooking laboratory was discovered when police raided the premises about 8pm on Monday.

“Detectives from CIB located a quantity of drugs, believed to be amphetamines, and fittings allegedly used for drug production,” Sgt Wiggins said.

“Police have arrested three occupants of the house and they have been charged with drug production.”

Sgt Wiggins said members of the Queensland Police Service State Drug Investigation Group helped with the raid.

“The raid was conducted as part of an ongoing drug investigation operation targeting amphetamine production in Bundaberg,” he said.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said tablets, believed to be pseudoephedrine, and other unknown drugs were allegedly found at the Beachmere Street house.

A 20-year-old man from Burnett Heads was charged with producing a dangerous drug, possessing a thing used in the commission of a crime and possession of drug utensils.

A second Burnett Heads man, aged 21, will face the same charges plus possession of a dangerous drug.

The third man, who is aged 19, is from the Sunshine Coast.

He was charged with production of a dangerous drug and possessing a thing used in the commission of a crime.

Two of the men have been bailed to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on September 28.

The third man has been remanded to custody and will appear on the same date.
