Navigator Peter Charles received line honours in the Darwin to Ambon International Yacht Race.
HE has survived an attack at sea by pirates, but Bundaberg sailor Peter Charles experienced one of the high points of his career when he navigated a yacht to a win in the 620-nautical mile Darwin to Ambon race early this month.
What made the experience even better for Mr Charles was that after days of fighting out the lead, the yacht he was navigating took the line honours by only 90 seconds.
Now he plans to sail the race again next year, when he turns 70, on an 80-year-old vessel and he is encouraging other Bundaberg sailors to join him.
