LAST week 170 players contested the J and R McCracken Junior Classic with great golf played by many of the contestants.
The boys’ competition winner was Maverick Antcliff who ended up winning by five shots from Aaron Wilkin.
At times during the final round he was under a bit of pressure after a couple of bogeys but regained his composure to win comfortably.
Jennifer Ray of Headlands won a sudden-death playoff to the girls’ event from Pacific golfer Nadine White. A great photograph in last Friday’s News-Mail highlights sportsmanship by these two players when they went out together to watch the boys finish their rounds.
An outstanding effort was played by Justin White of Pacific when he won the nett with 189 an average of 63 a day and his handicap went from 36 to 28.
