THE school holidays has parents across Bundaberg searching to keep their children entertained and with a number of events across the region, there is plenty to ward off the boredom.
At the end of last week kids got arty with Sponge Art workshops with Brisbane artist Carly Kotynski at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery.
Ms Kotynski said each of the five sessions she ran had been booked out.
“This is the first time I've run workshops with kids,” she said.
“It's been amazing to see what they have been walking out with — there have been lots of ice-creams and lots of robots and some really amazing creations.”
Ms Kotynski said the sponges used were the same as those you could buy in a supermarket.
“All you need is some scissors and craft glue and they can have a go at home,” she said.
The workshops were the last BRAG is holding this school holidays but there is still plenty to do with self-guided activities throughout the gallery.
Kids who were a little less arty have been having a ball at St Joseph's after school care with a variety of activities including computer games, air hockey, face painting and hand ball.
Care provider Dionne Grills said among the favourite activities had been bowling and a pizza day at Alexandra Park but Friday's “D” themed dress up day had all the kids talking.
“One even thought they would be funny and dressed up as me,” she said.
There are currently no spots open for vacation care but the centre is already taking bookings for the September school holidays.
For parents still looking for something different for their children a number of activities are happening this week including a river cruise, an historical day and sand art.
