A MAN who called Triple-0 several times on St Patrick’s Day insisting police come to arrest him, was jailed for three months for the crime.
Richard Gary Doyle, 34, of Bundaberg, started making the telephone calls about 11.20am.
Police prosecutor, Sergeant Robyn Shapcott, told Bundaberg Magistrates Court Doyle placed five calls to the emergency line in about an hour.
“He called Triple-0 demanding police collect him from his residential address,” she said.
Doyle had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, after he failed to appear in court on a public nuisance charge on February 8.
The maximum penalty for improper use of Triple-0 is three years’ jail.
Doyle was sentenced to three months’ prison for ringing the emergency line, six weeks jail for public nuisance and a two- month prison term for the failing to get to his court date.
He was released on immediate parole.
